What Are the Common Processes for Treating FRP

Lee 2024-01-08

FRP reinforced plastic (FRP) composite materials are widely used in construction engineering, chemical engineering, automotive, railway, highway, electrical and communication fields. The service life of FRP is only 10-20 years, and it is not biodegradable. Landfilling and incineration can cause new pollution and energy waste, which does not meet the requirements of modern ecological civilization construction. Therefore, the reasonable recycling of FRP has created a large market space.

FRP

At present, there are three methods for recycling FRP: physical crushing, chemical pyrolysis, and energy recovery. In terms of cost and technology, physical crushing and energy recovery are more practical. We will introduce these two recycling methods.

The so-called physical crushing and recycling of FRP is to use a shredder to crush the FRP, and use it as a filler for other different composite materials based on the particle size after crushing, or directly as a raw material for FRP regeneration. This method is simple, efficient, low-cost, and easy to operate. It is also a commonly used treatment method for FRP. According to the situation of recycled FRP, the crushing production line can also flexibly add iron removal equipment, impurity removal equipment, cleaning equipment, drying equipment, packaging equipment, etc. GEP ECOTECH can flexibly design plans and configure production lines according to actual situations.

As for the energy recovery method, it mainly uses the recycled FRP as cement kiln fuel or power plant fuel to achieve thermal energy utilization, and then uses the burned residue as cement admixture to achieve the regeneration and utilization of FRP. This method also requires pre-treatment such as crushing and impurity removal of FRP.

FRP fragments

Previously, the treatment of FRP mainly focused on incineration and landfill, mainly due to low levels of recycling technology and weak crushing processing capabilities. the double-shaft shredder and four-shaft shredder produced by GEP ECOTECH can efficiently crush FRP through the shearing principle, greatly improving processing efficiency. At the same time, the shredder can also process FRP into different particle size ranges according to the different recycling purposes of FRP, facilitating resource utilization and providing convenience for FRP recycling. If you are interested in the recycling and utilization of FRP, please feel free to contact GEP ECOTECH. We can provide you with customized solutions and equipment to contribute to the FRP recycling industry together.
